Oregon Construction Workforce Coalition

Workforce development is an industry-wide issue, much larger than AGC can manage alone. Through the Oregon Construction Workforce Coalition, AGC and our numerous construction industry partners have established a broad spectrum of industry connections and have developed industry-specific outreach resources to promote the rewarding opportunities afforded by the construction industry. This assures youth, young adults, parents, and other key influencers that construction careers are a desirable option for a successful future. This coalition is open to both AGC members and non-members. Find out more about a few of the industry workforce programs this coalition has developed and supports at

Educator Outreach Externships

AGC successfully partnered with Willamette Promise and the Willamette Education Service District to develop a summer educator externship program. In 2017 we completed our second year with 28 educators and over 60 industry partner hosts. This program has been instrumental in connecting local construction companies with educators to provide first-hand experience and exposure to the limitless opportunities of careers in construction. Through these experiences educators are better equipped to relay numerous career pathways in construction to their students through new lesson plans, and presentations, and industry connections.

Planning for the 2018 summer program is well underway. Dates have been set: July 16-26, 2018.  We need many contractor and industry partner volunteers to host educators from all around the state. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Frosti Adams, 503-685-8310.

AGC of America Workforce Efforts and Resources

Industry recruitment and retention are essential to the future of the construction industry. Just as important as finding craft workers, project managers, and supervisors, is ensuring that these essential workers are properly educated and trained. Efforts through AGCA, in conjunction with chapters and industry partners, are focused on the goal to attract, retain, and train our future construction industry workforce.
