PRIDE Award

Safety PRIDE

Pride Award logoThe purpose of the AGC Safety PRIDE (Program Recognition Indicating Dedication & Excellence) designation is to recognize members who are willing to continuously improve and who are innovative industry leaders in safety. Oregon-OSHA recognizes this program under Program Directive A-264 (Focused Inspections in Construction).

Application Process

Employers who achieve the PRIDE award do so as members of a cohort. AGC members who “graduate” from PRIDE by passing all phases of the program receive their formal award notification email on or about November 1 annually. PRIDE is recognized by Oregon OSHA on a calendar-year basis for purposes of the focused inspection criteria outlined in Program Directive A-264. The overall annual timeline for PRIDE season is as follows:

  • March 1: PRIDE opens
  • July 31: Deadline for application submission
  • September 30: PRIDE closes
  • November 1: Formal achievement email sent to PRIDE winners
  • January 1–December 31 of the following calendar year: Oregon OSHA applies the focused inspection criteria to PRIDE winners

PRIDE marketing materials include the year the focused inspection criteria is applicable on the PRIDE logo. For example, an employer successfully completes the PRIDE process in 2025. They are eligible for the focused inspection criteria in 2026; the PRIDE logo distributed to the employer for marketing purposes will show the year “2026.” The slider for their award trophy will be engraved with “2025,” indicating that it is the year the award was earned.

Program Phases

The AGC Safety PRIDE program consists of three sequential phases.

Qualification Application

Initial submission with statistical thresholds and a high-level Y/N/N/A checklist on core safety elements. This serves as a gatekeeper to ensure basic eligibility.

Program Audit

Detailed review of your company’s safety program, policies, and procedures. Conducted jointly with an AGC safety management consultant (SMC) after application approval.

Jobsite Audit

Field verification of program implementation at active job sites. Performed by an AGC SMC, focusing on observable conditions and employee/supervisor confirmations. Job site audits validate real-world application of written programs and policies, with an emphasis on ensuring no Focus Four hazards are identified.
