Safety & Health Council

AGC Safety & Health Council activities include educational opportunities on best safety practices, construction safety information, peer-to-peer networking, safety awards programs, and reviewing and recommending safety-related regulatory and legislative direction for the Oregon-Columbia Chapter.

Meetings are held every other month in the Portland Metro area. Any employee from any AGC member is invited to attend and participate.

Safety & Health Council Charter

Council Leadership

Meetings are held at the AGC Center from 9:30–11:30 am, unless noted otherwise.

  • February 24, AGC/NWUCA Safety & Health Forum, NW College of Construction
  • April 20: AGC President Brian Gray, NW region president of Knife River. Brian will discuss safety culture and tools to implement continuous safety improvements.
  • June 22: The Safety Anchor Post System®, a temporary guardrail safety device used in commercial construction, will be presented.
  • August 17: Security Threat and Awareness Training, presented by Clackamas County Sheriff’s Sergeant, Anthony Kollias.
  • October 19: Rixio E. Medina, director of business development with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), will discuss professional certifications and the nationally accredited certification on basic occupational safety and health for supervisors in the construction industry.
  • December 7 Lean Safety presentation by Jim Smoltz from SafeBuild Alliance, and end of year lunch celebration, (note special time: 11:30 am–1:00 pm)
