USDOT Announces Rulemaking; Task Force Members Sought

Seal_US_DOTThe Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has issued a notice of proposed rulemaking to develop regulations requiring the use of Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) on trucks that operate in interstate commerce. The ELD would be used to enforce restrictions for on-duty time and driving time for truck drivers. Drivers that are required currently to log their hours manually would be required to do it by electronic device. Additional information about the proposed rule can be found here

The AGC of America Highway and Transportation Division’s Regulatory Forum is establishing a task force to prepare comments to FMCSA and more broadly to discuss other options. The Division is looking for members with familiarity with the current rules that could assist AGC of America in putting together comments.
