New ODOT Safety Video Available

respect_cone2The Oregon Department of Transportation’s Photo/Video Services Unit produced a new safety training video sponsored by the Employee Safety Unit about a near miss incident.

“It Can Be a Dangerous Job” was produced with the assistance of maintenance employees in Region 3, District 8. They tell their story of a very serious near miss incident from last August. Although no one was hurt and there was no serious property damage, it was a very scary near miss, as you will find when you listen to the crews’ account of that day.

The story carries a powerful safety message and we expect that this video will stimulate conversations about work zone safety among road construction and utility crews. Please take their message to heart and be safe.

“For our sake and yours, respect the cone zone.”
