WISHA Confined Spaces Stakeholder Mtg: 5/4

Confined Spaces – Chapter 296-809 WAC Stakeholder MeetingWa-Dept-Lab-and-Indust-logo2

A stakeholder meeting is set for 9 am–12 pm, May 4, 2017, at the Tukwila service location to receive comments on a draft for the Confined Space proposed rule. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) adopted its Final Rule for Confined Space in Construction, effective August 4, 2015. The documents can be viewed here.

Since this final rule imposes additional or more stringent requirements on employers than existing OSHA standards, the Department of Labor and Industries must adopt an “at least as effective” standard or amend their existing standards. Washington’s confined space rule is for both construction and general industry. Therefore, changes that were made as a result of OSHA’s changes affected both construction and general industry in Washington’s rule. They are providing an opportunity for you to review the draft rule with all of the proposed changes and referenced appendices. If you are unable to attend the meeting, you have until close of business on May 11, 2017 to send your comments. Please RSVP or send comments to:
