R&H Construction announced the promotion of Kraig O’Connor to president of the company. O’Connor has spent 16 years at R&H and was previously the Director of Building Operations. John Ward, the firm’s longtime president and CEO, will continue as CEO.

“I’m thrilled to share that Kraig is the next president of R&H Construction,” Ward said. “I’m looking forward to working closely with him to lead this great company. Kraig has spent 16 years at R&H honing his focus on leading construction operations and building relationships throughout the company and the industry. He is a thoughtful leader and the right person to guide the future of R&H.”

O’Connor joined R&H in 2006 working as a Project Engineer in the field on both ground up and renovation projects. He was promoted to Project Manager in 2011, Senior Project Manager in 2016, and Director of Operations in 2018. At R&H, O’Connor has helped lead large-scale, ground-up projects throughout the Northwest including several in NW Portland’s burgeoning Slabtown district and the renovation of R&H Construction’s own headquarters building on NW Wilson, completed in 2019.

A graduate of California Polytechnic State University with a BA in Construction Management, O’Connor volunteers as an advisor to Cal Poly on construction management curriculum. He is also a member of the AGC-Oregon Board of Directors and the Safe from Hate Construction Coalition.

“I’m honored to step into this role and proud to help lead the company where I’ve built my career alongside seasoned construction professionals,” O’Connor said. “The people at R&H are what move this company, what make it a great place to work, and what make working in this industry so rewarding. We’re a resilient group of solid, determined, and talented people who get to work with exceptional clients on projects that shape our region. The future holds great opportunity at R&H,” he added.

In his new position, O’Connor will work closely with Ward and will focus on leading company operations. Over time, he will take on additional responsibilities, co-leading the company with Ward.
