Who is Brown & Brown Northwest Insurance?

Brown & Brown Northwest Insurance (BBNW) is a full-service agency offering insurance and risk management solutions to clients throughout the Northwest. They offer property and casualty, workers’ compensation, employee health benefits, surety/bonds, and personal insurance coverages. Brown & Brown Northwest currently has more than 150 teammates who operate out of offices in Portland, Bend, Medford, Longview, and Vancouver. Their parent company, Brown & Brown, has a decentralized business model which gives branch offices the autonomy to operate locally, while providing access to the vast resources of a national organization. Their long history in Oregon dates back to JBL&K Insurance in 1867. In the last decade, they’ve acquired some of the most prestigious agencies in Oregon including Fullerton & Company, Beecher Carlson, Nies Insurance Agency, WR Reed & Company, Cramer & Giles, Security Insurance, Sage Insurance, Stuart & Tunno, and Lumbermens Insurance.

What are your mission and goals?

Brown & Brown Northwest Insurance’s mission is to provide customized insurance solutions that protect the financial well-being of customers and the businesses they’ve worked tirelessly to build. In an ever-changing environment of risk and uncertainty, they strive to provide innovative products and resources that allow their clients to be competitive in their industries and stable enough to achieve their long-term growth objectives.

They consistently make significant investments in their Construction Practice to focus on the continued growth in that sector. Brown & Brown Northwest has seen tremendous value from their newest software technology platform which help clients better manage their safety programs, OHSA compliance, and certificate tracking.

Craig Payne: Senior vice president of the Construction Practice, has more than 25 years of experience insuring some of Oregon’s most well-known construction companies. The depth of his expertise cannot be replicated. [clear]

Karl Choltus: Senior vice president Surety and national practice leader has worked in the bonding business for more than 20 years with experience as a surety underwriter and practice leader in both Canada and the US, and risk manager at a large construction company. [clear]

John Stott, Brown & Brown Northwest Insurance

John Stott: Senior vice president, has a career in the insurance industry spanning more than 30 years which includes underwriting, claims adjusting, company marketing, and insurance brokerage sales and service. [clear]

Tim Clarke, Brown & Brown Northwest Insurance

Tim Clarke: Vice president of Claims and Risk, leads Brown & Brown’s overall corporate claims and risk management activities. By thoroughly analyzing loss history and trends, he and his team ensure clients implement appropriate risk management strategies. [clear]

Our largest differentiator are the disciplines of expertise throughout our team. BBNW has specific construction, surety and workers’ comp experts, and a phenomenal claims & risk management team – it’s a collaborative team that allows us to service all of our construction clients’ needs.
