Partner Spotlight: Q & A with SAIF

Q & A with SAIF

Q: What is SAIF?
A: SAIF is Oregon’s not-for-profit workers’ compensation insurance company. For more than 100 years, we’ve been taking care of injured workers, helping them get back to work, and striving to make Oregon the safest and healthiest place to work.

Q: What is the overall mission of SAIF?
A: We’re a not-for-profit company owned by the state, so our mission is pretty unique: to constantly improve Oregon’s workers’ compensation system by setting the industry standard for affordability, availability, innovation, efficiency, and service quality.

Our vision is also distinctive: to be an industry innovator that makes Oregon the safest place to work. We exist to serve and protect the Oregon workforce, meet the needs of workers and employers, and strengthen the economy.

Q: What is SAIF’s key focus this year?
A: Along with making workers’ compensation affordable and accessible, the safety and health of Oregonians is always a key focus. This year, we launched our Safe and Healthy Workplace Center to provide leadership, resources, and support for our policyholders’ safety and health efforts. Within the center, we also created a safety advancement and innovation team that will focus on identifying new programs and projects to enhance safety and health cultures among our policyholders. Finally, we will partner with other organizations to drive innovation and strengthen our efforts to make Oregon the safest and healthiest place to work.

Q: Why do you find your relationship with AGC valuable?
A: It’s extremely valuable to us because it provides an ideal opportunity to partner with a committed organization that shares our values about workplace safety and other aspects of workers’ comp. And like SAIF, AGC is focused on serving both workers and employers.

It’s no secret that construction workers suffer on-the-job injuries at a higher rate than average, and that those injuries are often severe. We believe the combined expertise of AGC and SAIF helps get us closer to the goal of zero workplace injuries.

Q: What is one key fact about SAIF?
A: Ask SAIF employees why they’re so passionate and dedicated, and they’ll tell you it’s because of our unique mission, vision, and environment—and because their co-workers are just as passionate.

This was evident at the Summer Convention: Building Amazing Relationships, Presented by SAIF, where they were not only the presenting sponsor, they also were our Saturday Morning Keynote Speakers. Sabrina Freewynn a Total Worker Health Consultant at SAIF and Jennifer Webster the Vice President of Human Resources at SAIF spoke on “How to Help Your Employees Be Healthy and Thrive.” Their passion shone through.
