AGC Launches Work Now!, a Construction-Focused Job Board

Finding talent across all industry sectors has never been more challenging. This August, Oregon’s unemployment rate hit its lowest level in more than 40 years. The good news is that Oregon’s economy continues to grow and over the next 10 years employment in the construction sector is expected to grow by 17%, the second highest rate across all industries in the state. The bad news is that it will become increasingly difficult to find qualified, skilled, and motivated workers.

AGC is committed to developing and disseminating messages that educate and attract job seekers to the industry and aligned training providers. This work includes the Educator Externship program,, participation in career fairs state-wide, #WeBuildOregon social media campaign, and workforce development grants. With the launch of Work Now!, which can be found through the website, AGC adds another resource to not only promote construction careers, but to direct interested and qualified candidates to open jobs they can directly apply to.

Work Now! also provides an additional avenue for AGC member companies to advertise and promote their open positions. AGC will be promoting Work Now! through its social media channels, and through outreach to high schools, community college, and other training providers, which means jobs posted on Work Now! will be seen by a wider pool of interested and qualified candidates.

Across Oregon and SW Washington there does not exist an online platform to promote and advertise open jobs solely for the constructor sector. Most companies post their open jobs on large all-purpose job boards such as, or their regional craigslist site. The Work Now!! job board is an on-line aggregate of all construction job openings allowing skilled job seeks to visit one site to view and apply for jobs.

Work Now! is a free service for AGC members. It allows AGC members to post their brand, application process, and jobs/training opportunities. Some additional benefits include:

  • Easy-to-use, mobile responsive interface for recruiters and job seekers
  • Access to knowledgeable support
  • Configurable apply process to match your current application process
  • Real-time access to post and remove jobs from any device
  • Qualification and scoring questions reduces applicant screening time
  • Optional, for-fee distribution to hundreds of job-board destinations with the click of the mouse

To post your job openings visit the Work Now! page and click the Employer Registration button. From there you will be directed to a separate website where you will need to provide contact information. A representative from BirdDogHR will then contact you within 48 hours to walk you through the process of posting and managing your company’s openings. BirdDogHR developed and manages the software that runs the job board. They have a long history of working with the construction sector, and currently manage multiple job boards with other AGC chapters.
