Project Manager

Bineham Construction Inc. (BCI) is a commercial construction firm based in Eugene, Oregon. About You:

To succeed in the project manager role, the following qualities are needed:

  • Experience evaluating project risks
  • Proven leadership and communication skills
  • Detail oriented with outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management, organization, and personal skills
  • Possess working knowledge of construction law and generally accepted business practices
  • Ability to apply fundamentals of the means and methods of construction management
  • Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Current Oregon Driver’s License and insurable driving record

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or construction management and at least 5 years of construction experience

OR

  • 8–10 years of management and construction experience

About the Position:

The project manager position requires the ability for the following tasks

  • Works closely with office manager and senior engineer
  • Collaborate with project engineers, architects etc. to determine and understand the specifications of the project
  • Project estimating and change order negotiation
  • Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements
  • Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities
  • Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment, and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
  • Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met
  • Acquire equipment/materials and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies
  • Hire contractors and other staff and allocate responsibilities appropriately
  • Supervise the work of laborers, mechanics etc. and give them guidance when needed
  • Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues
  • Perform job site observations with project leadership
  • Participates in activities such as punch lists, city inspections, safety reviews, quality reviews and prepares the necessary documentation
  • Provide oversight to closeout aspects of the project
  • Abide by company best practice standards and fundamentals for building and construction techniques
  • Coordinate and inspect work
  • Prepare a variety of reports, including project daily reports, weekly progress reports, unit reporting, percentage complete, daily manpower, production schedules, equipment tracking, etc., to support the project.
  • Ensure all team members and subcontractors are provided updated plans/specifications as changes are made
  • Requirements:
  • Proven experience as construction project manager and/or estimator
  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures, cost estimation and project management principles
  • Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project)
  • Familiarity with construction/ project management software
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • A team player with leadership abilities

Working Environment:

  • May require periods of travel
  • Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs
  • May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)
  • Frequent activity: Standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder height, pushing, pulling, and sitting for long periods of time to work on computer screen
