What is JA BizTown?
JA
BizTown is a hands-on learning simulation that
exposes fifth grade students to business,
entrepreneurship, hard work, and financial planning.
In the construction office, which is designed to be
just like a real office, students will spend a day
running the company and building a project. After
their morning safety meeting, students will don
their safety gear and then estimate and build a
project.
The
Portland JA BizTown is an 8,500 square-foot, indoor
mini-city with 19 public and private businesses
(each sponsored by a real local business with the
authentic logo and marketplace appearance of the
sponsor), and is the first and only one in the
country to include a construction office. The
Oregon-Columbia Chapter Foundation is proud to be
the sponsor for this groundbreaking development.

Volunteers Needed
There is
a two-hour volunteer training class (many dates and
times to choose from), held at the Junior
Achievement Center. It is a good idea to attend the
training that is close to the simulation day that
you volunteer.
