Construction Management Education Council
Originally known as the Higher Education Committee and updated to the Construction Management Education Council (CMEC) in the 1990s, this council was initially charged with helping develop post-secondary construction programs in the region. Today’s mission is to encourage dynamic leadership and highly qualified management in the construction industry. Members act in an advisory and support capacity to advance construction management education at institutions of higher education throughout Oregon and SW Washington.

CMEC Grant Program
To meet its objectives, the CMEC annually reviews requests for grants to support construction management education within the region. Grants are awarded to institutions of post-secondary (community colleges, technological institutions, and universities) education offering programs in construction management or engineering within Oregon and Southwest Washington. Grants generally range from $500 to $2,500, depending on the proposals submitted.
The CMEC offers these grants in support of program administration with preference to proposals that support AGC student chapter activities or program development. Program development includes technological upgrades and improvements (e.g. computers, software, digital or other industry related equipment, etc.). Emphasis should be on items that will benefit students as opposed to faculty or administrators.
To assure the best use of limited dollars, it is necessary for interested organizations to submit a formal proposal to the CMEC to determine if a project is within its grant making interests. The CMEC reviews and recommends grant requests at its annual meeting usually held in conjunction with the chapter’s annual business meeting.
